Saippuahalko näyttää muotissa vielä ihan hyvältä... |
...ja melko ok näky on vielä tässäkin... |
"In the spot swirl" onnistui kohtalaisesti, vaikka ei kuvissa oikein erotukaan. Tuoksuöljy ei värjännyt massaa ruskeaksi, mutta alkanna taas ei tuonut toivottua väriä. Tuoksu on ainakin nyt sopivan hento. Lopputulos on siis ehkä lähinnä puoliksi onnistunut...toivottavasti saippua on käytössä kuitenkin kiva...
I was inspired by lilacs lately, when I read that they are eatable flowers. So, you can guess the theme for this summer vacation's products...I had to try lilac soap too, even if I couldn't use this CP-version until July. I tried to colour my soap with alkanet root infusion once before, but I couldn't get any colour. An other unsuccessful tryout was "in the pot swirl" last year in my goat milk soap. So this technique got an other chance here. Unfortunately you cannot get lilac as an essential oil, so I used GF's artificial lilac fragrance. They warned about acceleration and tanning, so I tried to keep both things in control. I tried to compensate tanning with titanium oxide. Interesting thing was that lye made lilac infusion to smell lots like lilacs, even if infusion itself didn't have scent at all. Alkanet root infusion made soap poisonous green, lets see if there is any change later. I used all the fats I got in my cabin - lilac infused canola oil, coconut oil, mango butter and sweet almond oil. This was also the first time I put soap mold to fridge prevent to gelling.
I tried to cut my soap log way too early, it was too soft and sticky. I was disappointed, my soap has gelled very ugly despite of putting it to fridge. "In the spot swirl" was quite nice, even if you cannot see it on those photos above. Fragrance oil didn't tan soap at all, but alkanet root didn't give the colour I was hoping. Scent is faint enough, at least for now. The result is half succeeded, perhaps...I hope the soap is good in use anyway...
VastaaPoistaI love it Signe! I love in-the-pot swirls - they are my favorite, and yours turned out so pretty! I bet it smells amazing! :)
VastaaPoistaThis didn't turn out so well, and it's not very pretty because of gelling - there is "not so ugly" slice in the photo, but others are kind of sad because they gelled so badly. But I'm learning things, little by little...:)
PoistaI read this post, and being busy with kids, I wasn't able to comment, but now they sleep, so... I didn't understand why didn't you get any color using alkanet. I really like alkanet, and the 'secret' would be the more you let it infuse, the darker/stronger the color. have you tried to infuse it for some weeks/months or? Your soaps looks lovely, I like your stamp! I found out too late that liliac could be eaten ... thank you, Signe!
VastaaPoistaThis time I got very faint colour (first time there was no colour at all), but I don't know why it's not stronger. I kind of double infused alkanet oil, but my alkanet is not in powder shape, maybe that affects? I like my stamp too! :) I haven't succeeded with my soaps lately, I should concentrate better when making them.
