I found this body lotion/butter recipe and I wanted to try it, because my skin has screamed more nurture after all swimming I did during the summer. I changed the recipe little bit, I used different oils and added some Optiphen because of that aloe juice and gel involved. I also used lot less essential oils because more than 100 drops is huge amount of any scent. My cream is quite nice and it feels okay - but it absorbs soooo slowly that I couldn't use this after morning shower. If you don't have super dry skin or if you are not psoriatic, please do not try this...I have dry and atopic skin, that normally absorbs anything you put on it, but now I looked just like a body builder (not so fitted, too badly) on the competition, oiled all over the body. ;D My mother liked this a lot, even if she has not dry skin type - she just thinks that older skin needs much more oils as a cover...
How did you get it stay emulsified over time? I'd never dare to rely on beeswax as an emulsifier, but i've also never tried it in emulsions.
VastaaPoistaI hope your mom will not put it on her face, due to light sensitivity of citrus e.o-s :-)
I made that few weeks ago, and nothing happened yet. I had my doubts about bees wax as an emulsifier too (tried it once and it didn't work well), but obviously sometimes it works. She did put it her face too, but as night cream, and we don't have much sun light here anymore this time of the year, so I don't think that is any problem now.
PoistaI forgot to say that lotion making method was quite different than that I normally use - this was two phased too,but phases were not hot, and I mixed them in blender. I noticed that I didn't add Optiphen to the recipe, even if I used it. There was no preservative in the original recipe, but because of aloe stuff and low temperatures I wanted to put it to my version.
